How to turn on "Compatibility Mode" for Internet Explorer

New browsers such as Internet Explorer 10 – which was recently released - occasionally display web pages incorrectly (or in some cases can’t display them at all). There is a tool called “compatibility mode” which enables you to view web pages in new browsers. These directions show you how to enable compatibility mode in your browser.

  1. Navigate to the web site or page you are trying to access.
  2. Look for the “compatibility mode” icon in the address bar at the top of the page. Click the icon and the web page should display correctly.

If the Compatibility Mode icon is not showing in your browser’s address bar, follow these steps:

  1. Hit the “alt” key on your keyboard.

  2. This will bring up a number of options below your browser’s address bar at the top left of your screen. Find “tools” and then select “compatibility view settings.”

  3. Click “add” and then “close” to enable the website to display correctly in your browser.
