  • Albertus and Gateway Sign Transfer Pact

    On November 29, Albertus Magnus College and Gateway Community College signed an articulation agreement spelling out details which will allow Gateway graduates to transfer their credits to a bachelor’s program in the Traditional Day College, School of Evening and Graduate Programs or the School of New Dimensions.

    At the signing, Albertus President Dr. Julia M. McNamara noted the determination of Gateway students. “The students who come to Albertus from Gateway are academically well-prepared and they are committed to continuing their post-secondary education. We are pleased to help them attain their educational goals.”

    Albertus also has articulation agreements with Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield and Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport.

  • Legacy Families at Albertus

    Are you a Legacy graduate? You are if you have members of your family who also graduated from Albertus. Send the names, relationships and graduation years of members of your family to alumni@albertus.edu. We want to capture this important aspect of Albertus history.

    Legacy families reflect the richness of the Albertus family. Tell us about your grandmother, mother, siblings, aunts and uncles. Many of today’s legacy families include traditional undergraduates and adults who have graduated from accelerated degree programs as well as master’s programs.

  • New Albertus Magnus Choir

    Choral groups have been an Albertus tradition since the earliest days of the College. Four women in the first graduating class listed Glee Club membership among their extracurricular activities. Now, after a hiatus of several years, a new group has joined the tradition. The Albertus Magnus Choir gave its first performance, featuring traditional and contemporary Christmas songs and carols, November 8 in Rosary Hall, and received a standing ovation at the concert’s end.   • Alumna’s Memoir Now Available in English

    Dr. Tomoko Takahashi’s memoir, “Samurai and Cotton,” originally published in Japanese, is now available in English. Her story focuses on seven generations of her family, and in particular, on her father, Kiyoshi, and their relationship. Two chapters describe her experience at Albertus from 1975-1977. Dr. Takahashi is provost, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the Graduate School at Soka University of America in Calabasas and Aliso Viejo, California. She received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Albertus in 2006 and serves on the College’s Board of Trustees.

  • Alumni of the Year Awards

    Now is the time to be thinking of worthy recipients for the 2012 Alumni Awards:  Alumni of the Year Award (graduates of all programs who are out of school for more than 10 years are eligible) and the Premier Achievement Award (for those who have graduated within the past 10 years).  Self-nomination is encouraged. Nominations are accepted throughout the year, but the official deadline is March 15.  For nomination forms, details on the 2011 honoree and a list of all past recipients, Click Here
